Peter Lima

Peter Lima is a Senior Systems Designer and the principal of ITS Design Team Inc., with deep expertise in audio-visual systems, life safety integration, and enterprise communications infrastructure. His work spans international airports, sports venues, nuclear facilities, and civic buildings across Canada and abroad.

His practice is built around one principle: in mission-critical environments, design cannot be approximate. Every zone, every routing path, every failover behaviour must be deliberate. His reputation is built on systems that continue to perform years after commissioning.

Trained at Fanshawe College and refined over decades of field work — including a long tenure with Sound Dymax Inc. — Peter has programmed complex DSP architectures for some of Canada's most recognisable public infrastructure, and collaborated with automated messaging platforms to deliver unified passenger information and emergency broadcast systems.

Design Philosophy

In life safety and public address, there is no tolerance for ambiguity. A voice evacuation system that fails during an emergency is not an inconvenience — it is a catastrophic design failure. Peter's approach treats every routing path, every zone boundary, every failover condition as a design decision that must be made deliberately, documented precisely, and tested rigorously.

This philosophy extends to system longevity. The facilities ITS serves — airports, nuclear stations, stadiums — operate on decades-long timelines. Systems must be designed not just for the day of commissioning, but for the years of operational changes, expansions, and evolving code requirements that follow.

Platform Expertise

Peter holds deep platform-level expertise across the major DSP ecosystems used in large-scale commercial and institutional audio. His primary platforms include Q-SYS (QSC), BSS (Harman), and Biamp, with additional integration experience across Simpleway automated messaging, Edwards EST fire alarm systems, and Bosch communication platforms. He is a Q-SYS Certified Designer.
