Public address system redesign and programming for a premier multi-use sports venue

Challenge

BMO Field — home to Toronto FC (MLS) and the Toronto Argonauts (CFL), and host to international football, concerts, and special events — needed its public address system redesigned to meet the acoustic demands of a multi-use venue. The system had to deliver clear, intelligible speech across an open-air stadium environment with variable crowd sizes and event types.

Approach

ITS redesigned the PA system and reprogrammed the DSP architecture to serve the venue's diverse operational requirements. The design was coordinated with d&b audiotechnik loudspeaker systems and Aligned Vision Group on commissioning. The DSP programming accounts for different event profiles — a CFL game has different coverage requirements than a concert — with preset configurations that operations staff can switch between without technical expertise.

Outcome

BMO Field operates with a redesigned PA system that delivers consistent intelligibility across all seating areas and adapts to the venue's varied event calendar through programmable DSP presets.
