Unified Passenger Information System

Challenge

Airports require paging systems that are driven automatically from operational data — flight schedules, gate assignments, boarding times — rather than relying entirely on manual announcements. The system needed to integrate audio announcements with flight information display (FIDS) modules, ensuring passengers receive consistent information across both channels simultaneously.

Approach

ITS designed and built an automated paging platform in collaboration with Simpleway. The system combines PA notification with FIDS module integration, automatically generating and routing announcements based on real-time operational data. The architecture was built as a scalable platform: the same core design is deployable in regional airports with a handful of gates and in large hub operations with hundreds of zones and concurrent announcement queues.

Outcome

The UPIS platform delivers automated, data-driven paging synchronised with visual flight information displays, eliminating manual announcement errors and ensuring consistent passenger communication across audio and visual channels.
